Feng Shui and Astrology
The Chinese study of Feng Shui seeks to create more harmony and balance in a person’s home, relationships, and life in general. In Chinese, “Feng” means wind, and “Shui” means water. It is pronounced “fung-shway.” Feng Shui deals with the flow of “chi,” or cosmic energy that links all life together. Feng Shui helps balance this flow of chi in ways that make our lives more pleasant and successful. No matter what sign of the Zodiac under which you were born, you can find some good advice based upon the principles of Feng Shui.
Aries
Aries is an active Fire Sign. In Feng Shui, this element is associated with the color red and the south side of any home or building. To help improve the flow of chi in your life, an Aries could tie red ribbons to the doorknobs. Red is very energetic and considered an especially lucky color. Add some red accents or images of fire to improve the energy in any room.
Taurus
Taurus responds best to the direction of west-southwest. Earthy colors such as brown and light yellow will support a feeling of greater harmony for easygoing Taureans. The color yellow also represents longevity. The bamboo flute is considered an object that can cure difficult chi flow. It represents peace, safety, and stability. Earthenware objects, such as clay pots full of yellow flowers, are lucky, especially in the western corner of any room.
Gemini
Gemini is a born communicator. West-southwest is a lucky direction. For Gemini, adding the color orange can improve stagnant chi. Orange is often called the social color: it supports lively conversations and a healthy appetite. This color will be best used in small amounts. This could be a bowl of oranges or a colorful photo. Vivacious Gemini can also balance the energy of a room with the addition of small, faceted crystal balls that create rainbows of light throughout a room.
Cancer
Cancer has a deep need for a happy home. Their best areas will be the east and southeast walls of any living space. The color green can help you balance the chi of any room. Adding living plants or even artificial flowers will improve the energy flow. Plants on either side of a doorway attract the flow of chi. This encourages the energy of health, vitality, and growth. It is also an expression of abundance and thus supports wealth and prosperity.
Leo
Leo likes romance and drama. Bold shades of red draw a passionate adventurer to your side. Mirrors can be especially lucky for a Leo hoping to improve the chi flow of any area. Mirrors are sometimes called the aspirin of Feng Shui. A mirror can deflect negative energy, such as from a long hallway or another straight line within a house. Mirrors that reflect water or gardens are especially lucky. A mirror on a south wall encourages fame and the good opinion of others.
Virgo
Virgo is a practical Earth Sign attracted to simple and well-built wooden furniture. The east and southeast are the most positive directions. East represents health, and southeast wealth and abundance. The most important areas for Virgo will be near the center of the home. You can use the color red to improve the chi flow in any area with a strong earth element.
Libra
Libra will enjoy the best chi in the southwest. This area is tied to love and marriage. Deep blue can be used freely in the north, east, or southeast walls of any room. Blue suggests the sky and unlimited happiness. Objects that are arranged in pairs will support the harmony and balance so important to peace-loving Libra. The gentle energy of fire-influenced pink colors can also support more loving relationships in the family. This can be added with positive effect to any room.
Scorpio
Scorpio will find the best fortune in the east area of any dwelling. This direction rules harmony for the family, the element of wood, and the color green. Although feisty Scorpio is often attracted to the color red, green in the home provides an important balance that encourages healing. Green calms the nerves and helps balance the chi in the body. Several different shades of green in the same room promote the most positive chi flow.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius will be best supported by the northwest direction of helpful people and travel. They will also feel energized in the northeast direction of knowledge and self-improvement. Candles or images of fire in either of these directions bring welcome fire energy to support expansive Sagittarian interests. The clever use of light can also support a better flow of chi. For example, use a spotlight to illuminate the corner of any “L” shape.
Capricorn
Capricorn has an affinity for the north. This area speaks of a successful career, the color black, and sounds. For sensible and ambitious Capricorns, wind chimes and little bells help to improve the flow of chi and support success and recognition. This is also tied to the water element. Water helps to balance Earth Sign Capricorn and open up new possibilities. Water is the ancient symbol of abundance. A small fountain on the north wall of a room is lucky.
Aquarius
Aquarius is the sign of original inspiration. They will be attracted to the very strong, high-vibration color purple. This must be handled with care. Purple is too strong for a wall color, unless very pale. Too much is believed to be unhealthy. But in a room used for relaxation or mediation, the careful use of purple can enhance insight and a feeling of being one with the cosmos. You can also use your amethyst birthstone to deflect negative energies, such as those that collect in sharp corners.
Pisces
Pisces is attracted to wisdom and assimilation of all life lessons. The west areas of your living space can be especially supportive if you want more balanced chi. It is connected with the color white and element metal. Metal objects and decorative accents in the color gray, especially on a western wall, brings the qualities of sharpness, precision, and clarity. This encourages the interests of children and creativity in general. Its balancing effect will help you feel lighter and more centered.
